a new beginning

Though it pains me to leave my faithful veteran livejournal(s) in the dust, I felt I needed to move onto a different venue of expression. Forgive the confusing title/username I chose. I was reading my copy of Professor Burge’s Truth, Thought, and Reason, which has as its cover art the musical notation for Bach’s Toccata and Fugue, a wholly appropriate metaphor for life and the world, methinks. Life is hardly simple or linear as we might wish it to be at times, and while a fugue is infinitely harder to play than a conventional piece of music, seemingly chaotic with different melodical lines shooting off every which way, in the end we are rewarded by its complexity and beauty. Of course, there’s also the word play. The ‘g’ looks awful familiar to a ‘q.’ Swap the two and suddenly the word resembles an expletive. But I’m sure that was pretty obvious. But maybe I’m just on crack. I also have intentions to transfer my old entries over here, if possible. If not, I might just repost ones I think are significant. Cheers to new beginnings.
